We are now in the middle of March. The vast majority of winter is behind us, but it is only March, there could be more to come. However, let’s not think about that. We should be preparing for spring. There are some projects that are going to need to be done once spring is fully here.
Damage from snow plowing activities is one of the first thing that everyone sees once the snow starts to melt. If we at Harkes Landscape Management, LLC plowed your property and caused the snow plowing damage, we will be back around once the majority of the snow has melted to repair any damage that is done. That means that project is handled. No worries.
Some other damage that is done throughout the winter is that by rabbits, mice and voles. The severity of this damage depends on the amount of feeding that these creatures have done to your lawn and plants. Some pruning may be required to clean up the look of your plants this spring to remove any damage that these little creatures have done. Most of the time, not always, but most of the time, the plant can be salvaged. Again, this depends on the amount of feeding, and without seeing the plant it is hard to tell how much damage there actually is.
Some other items to think about as spring nears is weeds and crabgrass in your lawn. Spring is a very important time for weeds and crabgrass. In the spring, before the crabgrass starts to sprout for the season, a crabgrass control product should be applied to your lawn, per the directions on the label. Being proactive against crabgrass is easier and cheaper than being reactive to it. Weeds, other than crabgrass, will start to go crazy in the spring. Killing weeds still growing is a better option compared to waiting until they are fully mature. When they are fully mature, it can take more weed killer and more time to work properly. Again, please use all pesticides in accordance with the label.
Preparing for spring is important. Spring is a busy time in the landscape. Being prepared ahead of time can save a lot of stress once the season is in full swing.
