The 2014-2015 winter season came in like a lion. By mid-November, it looked like winter wanted to stay. We had over 30 inches of snow before the month was done.
Then December happened. There was moderation. There was minimal snow, moderate temperatures, and a complete turn-around from the month before.
January was snowier than December. Cold air from the arctic moved in. Snow came heavy. But just like November, the snow in January primarily fell all within seven days. Then the snow turned off for the most part.
February started out strong in terms of snow. However, the same pattern continued; heavy snow for about a week…then little to no snow. This doesn’t mean that the cold air disappeared; because cold air arrived, and did it arrive. Snow became a little more regular as the month progressed.
March started with a messy mix of a storm, snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain. What a mess. Shortly after that, the weather pattern changes and we started to head towards a little warmer weather, a little more spring like.
All in all, this winter was different than last winter. But every winter is different from the winters before it. A good way to describe this winter would be like riding a roller coaster; there were ups and downs, and turns and twists. There was plenty of that this winter. Now we will have to wait to see what turns and twists spring and summer holds.
