The 2014 growing season has come to an end. The spring came and went, summer is over, and the leaves have fallen, or at least most of them. The 2014 growing season was a good year for the lawn and landscape.
The year was fairly wet, but never too much at one single time. However, the snow came fairly early, leaving a lot of the leaves on the trees and on the ground. There were some minor flooding issues, but nothing to make it into the record books. We did have some dry spells. But again, nothing that lasted too long. The plants were able to recover from it.
The temperatures never made it to 90 degrees Fahrenheit this year. However, we had plenty of pleasant temperatures. This was good for the grass. Many days were in the ideal range for grass to grow.
No single plant disease or pest came by and wiped out a large number of any plant that we came across. Yes, there were some pests, but nothing than came through and cleaned house on everything in its sight.
Overall, this was a really good year for the lawn and landscape. Growing conditions were ideal through the majority of the season. This is good since just a couple of years ago, we went through a very warm and dry year.
What does this mean for the 2015 growing season, or even the 2014-2015 winter season? I guess that we will have to wait and see what is in store for us for the next season to come. However, we should be happy that the 2014 growing season was a good one.
